Shop update: FireBirdFusion kimono robes

I am so excited to introduce this – my beautiful line of FireBirdFusion kimono robes. I have been making them for myself quite some time, but somehow it did not occur to me that others would love them as well.

They make the most beautiful cover ups for your bellydance or burlesque costume, or why not wear them to a party or dinner invitation? My favorite use is still to just slip into one of these beauties in the morning when having that essential wake up coffee. It simply makes the world a prettier place.

FireBirdFusion’s 1920s style ooak kimono robe, handmade of vintage saree fabric.

I make the robes out of vintage saree fabric and trims which I buy on my travels to India. As with all my creations, I want to use as much vintage material as possible. I don’t like to see the beauty and effort of such amazing craftmanship go to waste, and by using vintage material less chemicals are spread in our environment. All fabrics are carefully washed before being transformed into new shapes.

Some of my robes are made out of silk, others from synthetic fabric. What they do have in common is that every single textile used is carefully chosen by myself, they got the most beautiful and intricate embroidery with sequins or glass beads, and they are all unique, one of a kind creations.

Adding the trims to a lovely dusty pink saree fabric to create a FireBirdFusion 1920s style kimono robe.

The robes are usually not made to order, rather I make them in between other commissions whenever I find time. All currently available robes are found in the section FireBird costumes on my Etsy shop, so take a look there if curious to see what is in stock right now. I make them in sizes ranging between Extra small to Extra large (European sizes).

Since the fabric is vintage, they show sign of being loved and used, and as such there will inevitable be some sequins or beads missing. It is part of their charm. To make them last long, let them air after use. If you do need to wash them, gentle hand wash is recommended. For the silk robes, dry clean is the better choice.
