Stockholm Burlesque Festival & the Octbooberfest Tasseltwirl championships, Oct 13th-14th

The count down to one of Europe’s biggest and most lavish burlesque events is on: the unmissable Stockholm Burlesque Festival!

Soon our beautiful northern capital Stockholm will be hosting a weekend full of parties and shows, introducing amazing talent in styles as diverse as classic and neo burlesque, boylesque, drag, dance, live music, comedy and cabaret including top solo performers, ravishing duo acts and spectacular troupe numbers from 12 nations!

Octbooberfest is the Pink Ribbon/breast cancer research benefit of the Swedish burlesque community and Stockholm Burlesque Festival. Octbooberfest is also an international tasseltwirling championship, and a celebration of what we love most: BOOBS and chests of all varieties!

The championship gala is part of Stockholm Burlesque Festival and takes place at Nalen ballroom in Stockholm, Saturday October 14, 2017. Throughout the festival (October 13 & 14) they will be selling raffle tickets and giving everyone the chance to win wonderful prizes. All prizes are donated by their lovely sponsors and every raffle ticket penny (or Swedish krona, to be precise) will go directly to Cancerfonden.

Shop update: FireBirdFusion kimono robes

I am so excited to introduce this – my beautiful line of FireBirdFusion kimono robes. I have been making them for myself quite some time, but somehow it did not occur to me that others would love them as well.

They make the most beautiful cover ups for your bellydance or burlesque costume, or why not wear them to a party or dinner invitation? My favorite use is still to just slip into one of these beauties in the morning when having that essential wake up coffee. It simply makes the world a prettier place.

FireBirdFusion’s 1920s style ooak kimono robe, handmade of vintage saree fabric.

I make the robes out of vintage saree fabric and trims which I buy on my travels to India. As with all my creations, I want to use as much vintage material as possible. I don’t like to see the beauty and effort of such amazing craftmanship go to waste, and by using vintage material less chemicals are spread in our environment. All fabrics are carefully washed before being transformed into new shapes.

Some of my robes are made out of silk, others from synthetic fabric. What they do have in common is that every single textile used is carefully chosen by myself, they got the most beautiful and intricate embroidery with sequins or glass beads, and they are all unique, one of a kind creations.

Adding the trims to a lovely dusty pink saree fabric to create a FireBirdFusion 1920s style kimono robe.

The robes are usually not made to order, rather I make them in between other commissions whenever I find time. All currently available robes are found in the section FireBird costumes on my Etsy shop, so take a look there if curious to see what is in stock right now. I make them in sizes ranging between Extra small to Extra large (European sizes).

Four amazing 1920s style kimono robe in gorgeous vintage hand embroidered saree fabric.

Since the fabric is vintage, they show sign of being loved and used, and as such there will inevitable be some sequins or beads missing. It is part of their charm. To make them last long, let them air after use. If you do need to wash them, gentle hand wash is recommended. For the silk robes, dry clean is the better choice.

Welcome to FireBirdFusion

I am really excited! Finally it is done, my own web site for FireBirdFusion. My vision for this site and blog has been to be able to share more of my work, inspiration and creative process. To show another side than that that you will find on my Instagram and Facebook accounts. I hope you will enjoy it, because I sure know I will be enjoying this journey.

Thank you Linn Bjelkne for creating this site, and Nic J Walsh for the amazing photography. You guys are the best. A warm loving hug goes out to all my wonderful models: Charlotte, Elena, Evelyn and Isabelle, without you this would not have turned out nearly as beautiful as it is! I am lucky to have you all in my life.

And all my friends and clients who has believed in me, encouraged and inspired me. Thank you – I love you guys so much. <3
